San Diego, in southern California, USA, is often said to have the perfect climate. The average daily maximum in the hottest months (July, August and September) is a comfortable 23 ℃ (73 F). However, it does get chilly at night in the winter, with an average daily minimum as low as 8 ℃ (46 F) in January.

It is sunny all year, with the least sunny month (February) still averaging 7 daily hours of sunshine.

San Diego is very dry. It receives only 53 mm (2.1 in) of rain in the wettest month (February). In the summer it hardly rains at all, averaging only 3 mm (0.1 in) in each of the months between June and September.
